(H) 2023 Feurt Symposium: Demystifying AI: Exploring the power and potential of artificial intelligence in pharmacy

In simplest terms, AI refers to the ability of machines and computers to mimic, think, act, and function as human beings would. The core of AI can be knowledge engineering, in which machines are assembled with access to exponential amounts of data and information relating to the human world, which enables them to be able to mimic human behavior. AI has been proposed to assist with several applications including: maintaining medical records, designing treatment plans, assisting in repetitive tasks, improving the accuracy of medicine and even drug creation. Given the rapid evolution of this technology, pharmacy professionals should be aware of the opportunities, implications, and impact of this technology. The overall goals of this knowledge based activity is to explore the power, potential, and limitations of artificial intelligence on the pharmacy profession.
