The Opioid Use Epidemic continues to claim over a hundred thousand lives per year in the United States. The standard of care for Opioid Use Disorder is treatment with buprenorphine accompanied by mental health therapy and support. Due to continued stigma, bias, misunderstanding, and misinformation, there continues to be hesitancy among medical providers and pharmacists when prescribing and dispensing this medication. In order to combat all of these factors we have developed this eight-hour series to properly educate as many healthcare providers as possible and support staff on the factors associated with addiction, the development of the disease, the treatment of the disease, and various other areas that pertain to the disease. This series will also cover other addictions (methamphetamine and alcohol) and will meet the DEA's MATE Act requirements.
